How to add a hyperlink in Moodle
This is a link to a screencast which shows you how to add a hyperlink to Moodle. I have also attached an image of the icon which you can use to post text from a Word document without getting all the invisible code which comes with it and which sometimes interferes with being able to add a link.

Fronter tour – be ready that I ask you to use external tools ‘in the cloud’
- Avatars
- Forum
- Fælles document – shows Fronter is web 1.0 rather than web 2.0 so we’ll have to use something else
- Dokument – How to sheets and videos (please contribute also)
- Aflevering
Email problems? Get the DJES email to go to your private mail box – how? Depends on your email. Eg Gmail
H-drive – what does yours look like?
About learning
It’s about making new connections, the more you do the more connections you make and the stronger these connections become.
Eg. Group work mindmaps show pdf on paper
- Activity (murder mystery)
- Discussion
- Summary
- (external research)
- Mindmap
Activities in Komm/IT are not optional unless it says optional (eg multi-tasking forum)
Communication theory
- Put the 4 components of the AIDA model into the right order.
- PPT
- Identify the 4 parts on the posters if you can
- Homework: When you give in work to a GTS teacher, are you using the AIDA model? Does your Fronter avatar help you give the right impression to your HTX teachers? Would the AIDA model help you to present your work effectively to your teachers? Read p. 35-36 in your books.
Remember that those who post first have the easiest job! Those who come later will be asked to research what others have said about the topic and those who post later still will be asked to make a summary and then a mindmap.
World statistics
In HTX you work a lot with numbers.
Show some examples that you have produced. Do they follow the AIDA model?
Homework:
Explore at least two of the following which are either showing the statistics you were asked to find or which are tools to show similar statistics.
- Gapminder http://www.gapminder.org
- Miniature Earth http://www.miniature-earth.com/
- If the World were a Village
- http://www.binsworld.com/100/eng/main.html
- World meters http://www.worldometers.info/
- Many Eyes: http://manyeyes.alphaworks.ibm.com/manyeyes
In the forum World Statistics explain which you thought was the most effective and why. Can you apply the AIDA model to the state of the world?
About grades
Fill in the can-do checklist
In the interests of openness: Minimum for 7 is that you try everything I ask you to do.

Video on how to add your image to Fronter
This is a one minute video showing how to add your image (avatar) to Fronter.
Re-sizing digital image files
Re-sizing an image
Challenge: Add an avatar image to your profile in Fronter which fits the required dimensions of 73 x 110
- Using Photoshop
1.1 File/Open – Choose a picture from your computer
1.2 Image/image size – to see how close you are to the required dimensions (73 width, 110 height in pixels)
1.3 Use crop tool to get the right proportions (on left hand menu)
1.4 Use image/image size again to check.
1.5 File/save as in jpg format (PS reduces the file size automatically)
1.6 Upload to Fronter (click on your name)
- Using online image editor eg Fotoflexer, pixlr, picnik (no need to register)
2.1 Upload – Choose a picture from your computer (‘edit from my computer’)
2.2 Click on ‘resize’ to see current size. Eg 345 x 407 To get 345 down to 73 for Fronter you need to reduce by about 80%, so tick percentage and try 30%. This gives 104 x 122. Be careful, you might lose too much quality.
2.3 Now use crop tool so that the picture is less wide.
2.4 Click on ‘resize’ to check you are close to 73 x 110
2.5 Save (very important if you are not registered). The file size wil be automatically reduced.
2.6 Upload to Fronter
- Using downloadable program eg GIMP, Paint.net
3.1 File/Open
3.2 Billede/skaler billede (use baggrund at bottom to make bigger if the picture becomes too small) to get the picture close to the required height of 110
3.3 Værktøjer/transformerings værktøjer/beskær to get the proportions to 73 x 110
3.4 Check image size again through Billede/skaler billede
3.5 Save as jpg (Be careful that the file size is not too big, GIMP does not reduce it automatically)
3.6 Upload to Fronter
Additional challenges
- Prepare these instructions in Danish including your own screenshots.
- What is the difference between bmp, gif, jpg, png and tiff image file formats?
Group work principles
Good group work principles
You made the following points in the forum:
- Leader role (ensures people talk or could talk too much)
- Having fun is important
- Finding right balance between fun and work
- Other roles? Eg writer...
- Better work when you know each other
- Plan for what to do when a group member is missing
- Copying good practice (remember to acknowledge/attribute)
- Physical layout
- Responding to other forum contributions
- Use all available resources (or choose carefully if there are too many)
- Work process eg iterative
- Make a work plan
Use a tool like Mindomo at www.mindomo.com or www.text2mindmap.com to make a visual plan of these points. Eg maybe use headings people, environment, resources, work processes
